At EuroTier China 2019, Martin Grepmeier, CEO of Awite, spoke with Far Eastern Agriculture about the company’s extensive range of applications from the agricultural biogas plant to industrial waste fermentation processes

“Our products and services are in the range of biogas and biogas applications. For biogas applications, we offer analysers for controlling the biogas quality and composition, which is used to control the entire process. The comprehensive process control that is based on our gas analysis systems AwiECO and AwiFLEX aim to ensure smooth operation and economic efficiency of the plant,” Grepmeier explained.

“The range of services also includes the automation and visualisation of biogas plants, sewage treatment plants and test facilities with specially developed software.”

“With AwiCONTROL, you can control the whole plant including all peripheral devices. This customised solution aims to provide operational safety while keeping operational expenditures low.”

Flow measurement with AwiFLOW

AwiFLOW focuses on the determination of water content, standard flow and energy flow (if applicable); simple installation in pipe sizes (nominal widths) from DN 50 to DN 350; cleaning and replacement of the sensor without loss of gas; high resistance – even with humid gas containing hydrogen sulphide; increase of the measuring accuracy through calibration with real gas and compensation of fluctuating gas composition in conjunction with AwiFLEX and AwiECO.

Additionally, the microbiological desulfurisation AwiDESULF and FuzzyLogic enable the operator to control the hydrogen sulfide concentration.

Expanded focus on the Asian market

“We have close to 3,000 applications globally and 150 of them in the Southeast Asian countries. In Asia, the main country for our business in Thailand. In China, we’re at the initial stage of cooperation with Innotech. For the biogas projects, we are the first at our project in treating food waste. In China, there is a very big potential in straw, each kind of rice straw.”

“We've won over the company HSA Asia for expanding our business activities in Southeast Asia. With headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, it is an optimal partner to operate in our expanded market areas of Malaysia and Indonesia. We also have some ongoing projects in the Philippines. We’re aiming to now cover Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam as well.”

In southeast Asia, Awite has partnered with HSA Asia, TDI (Thailand), Henotec (China) and others.
