Origin Agritech secures grant to build germplasm bank in Xinjiang

Origin Agritech Ltd, an agriculture technology company, on 19 July announced that it had been awarded a grant of US$276.8 from the Xinjiang government

The objective of the grant is to support Origin's efforts to build a local germplasm bank in Xinjiang and the company's contract growing of Nutritionally Enhanced Corn (NEC) in the region. Chairman of Origin Agritech, Gengchen Han expressed his gratitude for the government's support and endorsement of the company's efforts. The company believes that the grant signifies the government's commitment to modernising the agriculture sector and signals the potential for future suppport for initiatives aimed at improving the agricultural landscape in China.

"We are deeply grateful for this show of support from the Chinese government. This grant not only provides valuable resources for our work, but also serves as a significant validation of our efforts to modernise agriculture in China and contribute to regional food security," stated Han.
