Dr Ajay Awati joined the product management team of EW Nutrition as global category manager, enzymes on 1 February 2018
“I’m excited that Ajay is part of our product management team,” said Dr Heinrich Kleine Klausing, managing director of EW Nutrition. “His extensive background in animal nutrition and product development is an asset and is a perfect fit for our emphasis to develop products that allow the reduction of antibiotics without losing the economic focus.”
Dr Awati graduated in veterinary science and animal husbandry at KNP College of Veterinary Science, India. He later pursued International Master’s programme in Animal Science at the University of Wageningen with major focus on nutritional immunology. He has authored two master theses: Nutrition and immunology in broilers and in-vitro digestion model development for cats.
After his graduation, he worked on an EU-project, 'Healthy Pig Gut,' at the University of Wageningen. At least 10 universities and research institutes across Europe participated in the project to develop strategies to replace in-feed antibiotics. The focus of his PhD thesis was to generate strategies to use fermentable carbohydrates as prebiotics in weaning piglet nutrition.
Dr Ajay has worked for leading companies in animal nutrition and animal production industry in his long and illustrious career. He has profound scientific and practical experience in the development and application of feed additives in animal nutrition.
