World Bank vice president for East Asia and Pacific, Victoria Kwakwa, visited China during 26 October - 2 November
This was Ms. Kwakwa’s first official visit to China since her appointment in April 2016.
In Beijing, Ms. Kwakwa addressed the Seminar on International Economic Governance Reform - Opportunities and Challenges organised by the International Economics and Finance Institute, and met with senior officials of key government ministries and the Development Research Center of the State Council to discuss how the partnership between China and the World Bank can be further strengthened.
Ms. Kwakwa also visited Guizhou Province in southwest China. She saw two projects and talked with the local project staff and beneficiaries to learn how the World Bank helps develop an aged care system and reduce poverty through agricultural industrialization. She also met with provincial government officials and discussed how the World Bank can best support Guizhou to achieve its development goals.
