Agritechnica Asia and Horti Asia Regional Summit to focus on sustainability and smart production

Agritechnica Asia and Horti Asia regional summit – Smart Production for Sustainable Food Systems will be held as a hybrid event and will be organised by VNU Asia Pacific and DLG (German Agricultural Society) and co-hosted by the Thai Ministry of agriculture and cooperatives

The event is said to take place online at DLG Connect, the platform for the global agricultural community and in-person in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, on 16 and 17 November 2021.

Smart production for sustainable food systems

The Agritechnica Asia and Horti Asia regional summit is aimed at offering farmers and farming specialists from Thailand and South East Asia innovative farming systems and a wide range of solutions for improving crop production. The visitors will also have access to a worldwide network of international companies and experts. Under the theme “Smart production for sustainable food systems”, the regional summit addresses the challenges of sustainable food production facing farmers from Southeast Asia and especially Thailand. Organised by DLG (German Agricultural Society) and VNU Asia Pacific, the Regional Summit will take place at the Imperial Hotel and Convention Centre Korat in Nakhon Ratchasima, the very heart of rice, cassava and sugarcane production in Thailand. Complementing the in-person event held in Thailand, DLG’s online platform will additionally connect onsite and online international providers, experts and attendees. The summit is officially co-hosted by the Thai Ministry of agriculture and cooperatives.

Conference highlights

According to VNU Asia pacific and DLG, the regional summit will feature more than 80 speakers from Thailand and worldwide to discuss topics such as efficient and sustainable sugarcane, cassava, rice and maize production as well as precision and smart farming, plant protection, water management and cluster farming as well as new markets such as vertical farming and bioeconomy. Featured programmes within the event listed below:

Smart Farming Solutions for Thailand: Conducted by Thai Society of Agricultural Engineering (TSAE), Digital Economy Promotion Agency (DEPA), Pessl Instruments GmbH, SunSpACE Project, Agricultural Innovation Group of the Ministry of Agriculture & Cooperatives, Centre of Digital Technology & Society at Thammasat and Young Smart Farmers from Thailand.

Plant protection - on the way to organic agriculture: The exchange between Young Smart Farmers from Thailand & Young DLG members (German Agricultural Society).

New market opportunities in crop production: Conducted by Donau Soja Association, Lytone Enterprise, Inc., Authend Ltd., GIZ Ofiice Bangkok and Fachagentur Nachwachsende Rohstoffe e.V. (FNR).

First cluster farm future conference: Officially supported by the Federal Ministry for food and agriculture (Germany), conducted by the Department of Agricultural Extension (DOAE), German Thai Clusterfarm Project, German Association of Machinery Rings, German Agricultural Society (DLG), IRRI (Small Farms/ Big Fields) and Clusterfarm Managers.
