Constellar has signed an MoU to build and strengthen Asia’s agri-food ecosystem through Agri-Food Tech Expo Asia (AFTEA), together with the Singapore Tourism Board and its international content and strategy partner German Agricultural Society (DLG)

The launch is another step in Constellar’s journey to investing in high-growth industries and connecting partners in the global marketplace. It also adds to a diverse events portfolio that includes ‘Industrial Transformation Asia-Pacific’ a Hannover Messe event, BuildTech Asia, Singapore FinTech Festival and Franchising and Licensing Asia, amongst others.

AFTEA will aim to provide a focused exhibition platform with a “living lab” environment, thematic experiential zones, sandbox and community-based learning for emerging and established industry players in the agri-food industry to launch, showcase and testbed their solutions. The inaugural edition of the expo will focus on key themes such as aquaculture, urban protein production, food safety and security, integrated food systems, food waste management and smart farming as well as other related topics.

Chua Wee Phong, chief executive of markets for Constellar said, “We’re excited to bring together Asia’s key players in the agri-food tech sector to catalyse collaboration and growth. The pandemic has given us the opportunity to build innovative audience engagement solutions which enable impactful global business networking. We look forward to hosting a unique O2O (online-to-offline) hybrid experience, bringing together stakeholders safely in a post-COVID world to activate impactful networks, explore opportunities and embark on partnerships, strengthening the resilience and sustainability of Asia’s agri-food sectors.”

Tobias Eichberg, member of the board of directors of DLG and managing director of DLG exhibitions said, “Singapore is globally known as a driver of innovation and investments for the region and a pioneer in novel food. Its geographical particularities, but also the generally growing population worldwide, require innovative approaches and technologies for the sustainable production and processing of food, up to and including the realisation of long-term food trends. As an expert organisation for agriculture and food technologies, DLG will assist Constellar in creating a unique platform where innovation leaders will prove their lighthouse project for the transformation of the entire food value chain.”

To be launched in October 2022, AFTEA will be part of a line-up of events for the annual 'Singapore International Agri-Food Week' organised by Temasek. With the gradual resumption of overseas business travel boosting economic recovery for the region, AFTEA expects to welcome both local and global agri- and food businesses, urban and smart food producers and dealers, manufacturers, growers, solutions providers, start-ups and investors to experience and collaborate on new integrated food systems.

To kickstart AFTEA, Constellar will also be partnering with SAP Asia and other key stakeholders to conduct focused engagement workshops on agri-food production, logistics and commerce from 25 November 2021 onwards.
