On the occasion of ‘World Egg Day’ on 8 October, Informa Markets and Livestock Series Team has organised the “Eggcellent Talk Webinar” focusing on the importance and benefits of eggs in health and market updates in the egg industry across the ASEAN region
The event was organised by Informa Markets, an industry networking aggregator which helps businesses meet, discover products, trade and grow through exhibitions, virtual events, online marketplaces, specialist content and data services.
The opening introduction was delivered by one of the organisers - Rose Chitanuwat, group director at ASEAN Informa Markets. “Eggcellent Talk: Why World Egg Day” focusing on the importance of celebrating the egg industry was hosted by Suresh Chitturi, chairman of the International Egg Commission (IEC). The ‘Nutritional benefits on eggs’ segment was covered by Kalpana Beesabathuni, global Lead at Sight and Life Org.
An update on Vietnam’s egg market was provided by Dr Doan Xuan Truc, Vice President - Animal Husbandry Association of Vietnam (AHAV). Updates on the Malaysian egg industry was delivered by Lee Yoon Yeau, deputy president at the Federation of Livestock Farmers' Associations of Malaysia (FLFAM). Thailand egg market update was provided by Dr Kitti Supchukun, CEO and founder of Grenades Biotech and member of the committee of egg promotion - Egg Board, Thailand. Philippines egg market update was covered by Cecile Aldueza, managing director of Batangas Egg Producers Cooperative (BEPCO). Indonesian egg market update was delivered by Dr Dedy Kusmanagandi DVM, chairman of the management committee, Indonesian Poultry Veterinary Association (IPVA).
The event also hosted discussion panels relevant to the egg industry and its business such as challenges to increase the number of egg consumption in the countries, difficulties and challenges that egg producers are facing in Pandemic and egg safety criteria in the pandemic
A discussion on business opportunities in an emerging cage-free egg market was lead by Dawn Neo, senior manager, corporate engagement at Global Food Partners (GFP).
