A & S Thai Works Co, Ltd (ASTW) has received an order from Thaifoods Group to supply and install a chicken by-products rendering plant in Kanchanaburi, in west Thailand

The plant will be built with a capacity of 15-tonnes input per hour which will produce about three tonnes of chicken meal and 2300 litres chicken oil.

The plant will also use a low-temperature system to process chicken frames, heads, legs and guts into a high protein meal for animal feed and chicken oil. The plant is expected to be installed in a new building with a size 90 x 30 meters.

“The processing technology is originally from Norway but has been modified and improved in Thailand since 1986, consisting basically of cooking, pressing, separation and drying,” said ASTW.

All machines are manufactured in Samutprakarn in Thailand and will be installed by Thai technicians. The disc dryer will have 500 sq m heating surface and will be the largest in South East Asia and weigh in at 95 tonnes. Environment protection equipment includes condensers and biofilter, and the plant will have low energy consumption by using an Alfavap type waste heat evaporator from Alfa Laval.

ASTW has installed about 265 small and medium-sized processing plants for fish and animals in Asia, Australia and New Zealand and five large plants in Australia with similar capacities as the new plant at Thaifoods.

The startup is planned in September 2019, noted ASTW.
