Agriculture asserts itself as a major contributor to Vietnam economy

In 2022, the added value of the entire Agriculture and Rural Development (GDP) sector of Vietnam reached 3.36%, the highest increase in recent years

In that time, agriculture increased by 2.88% (cultivation increased by 1.51%, livestock production increased by 5.93%); fisheries increased by 4.43%, forestry increased by 6.13%; forest coverage rate was over 42.02%; the percentage of communes meeting new rural standards was over 73%.

Export turnover of the agriculture, forestry and fishery industry reached US$53.22bn, up 9.3% compared to 2021; trade surplus of over US$8.5bn, accounting for more than 75% of the total trade surplus value of the whole economy. 

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh acknowledged and praised the efforts and achievements of the agriculture sector and localities, as well as the innovation and determination to overcome difficulties of farmers and the business community.
