Vietnam earns 13 per cent more with export of fruit and vegetables

Vietnam has earned US$274mn from exporting vegetables and fruits in Q1 2015, which is a 13 per cent increase YoY

The statistics were revealed by the country’s Southern Horticultural Research Institute.

The nation’s vegetables and fruit exports to South Korea, Singapore and Hong Kong increased by 100 per cent, 300 per cent and 230 per cent respectively.

Meanwhile, the imports turnover of vegetables and fruits only attained US$53.3mn, down 42 per cent compared to the same period last year. This led to a trade surplus of US$220mn for the vegetable and fruit sector in Q1 2015.

The sector expects to earn US$2bn from exports later this year.
