Global manufacturer of agricultural pesticides Oro Agri has announced its strategy for Southeast Asian markets including Cambodia, Myanmar and Vietnam
Oro Agri CEO Erroll Pullen said, “Our company recognises the importance of agriculture in the region. We believe our products can make a major contribution in these countries by enhancing the growth of traditional crops using fertilisers and pesticides.”
The total cultivated area in the region is 50mn ha. Myanmar has the greatest potential with 16mn ha of cultivated area.
The company has submitted four products to the government of Myanmar for registration. The products include PREV-AM (biopesticide with fungicide, insecticide and miticide), WETCIT (adjuvant that enhances activity of traditional crop protection chemicals), OROSTAR (fertiliser with micro-nutrients that aids the uptake of micro and macro nutrients into the plant) and TRANSFORMER (blend of surfactants and plant extracts that improves soil microbial action).
Oro Agri regional manager for Northeast Asia Quang Man added, “Entering Southeast Asian market with a range of adjuvant and foliar fertiliser is a great opportunity for Oro Agri to promote its products and show the crop benefits that can be achieved. Each country in the region is slightly different in terms of size and crop range, but what they all have in common is a need to get the best out of their land to meet the needs of a growing population and export market.”
In 2014, the company launched ORO-STAR, PREV-B2 and PREV-MAG fertilisers and pesticides in Vietnam and is currently investing in producing data packages for several other products to gain registration.
“Once registration is obtained and a full range of products are commercially available, Oro Agri will be in a strong position in this important market,” added Man.
Four Oro Agri products PREV-AM, WETCIT, ORO-STAP and TRANSFORMER have already been registered in Cambodia.
