The Thai frozen poultry industry aims to export 5,000 tonnes in Q1 2014 and up to 10,000 tonnes by end of this year to Japan

Yingluck Shinawatra, Thai Prime Minister, said that the sector can expect a surge in export as Japan had lifted its ban on the nation’s frozen chicken in December 2013.

Yingluck added that Thailand would soon reclaim its position as the world’s leading exporter of frozen poultry products, predicting that in a couple of years the nation will be able to export up to 200,000 tonnes annually.

“Once the country has established its firm ground on the frozen poultry products, it could in the near future open doors to international fresh poultry markets for Thailand’s poultry industry,” the premier said.
