Liu Chunhai, CEO of Beijing Yahe for 12 years, spoke ahead of the EuroTier China about the major challenges in the global animal farming sector and elaborated the company’s technical innovation to address them
EuroTier China will be held from 19-21 September in Qingdao International Expo Center (QIEC), China.
Liu Chunhai is the associate professor in Heilongjiang Bayi Agricultural University and goat nutritionist in Liaoning Academy of Animal Sciences. He has won the technology progress prize of Heilongjiang (First Prize – Once; Second Prize – Twice). He has six invention patents as well. Chunhai has first put forward “Glucose Imbalance Theory for Dairy Cows after Calving.”
Beijing Yahe is a launch partner for the EuroTier Worldwide Network of animal farming trade fairs.
Major challenges globally for animal farming in the next 5 years
The direct impact of food safety and human health is the direct impact of drug residues on human foods, the potential harm of super bacterial resistance to humans and the potential hazards of zoonotic diseases such as non-clam. It has its own influence and can mutate and harm humanity. The bird flu that has been raging for many years has sounded the alarm for humanity. In addition, the large-scale pollution of large-scale farming on the environment harms the ecological balance of nature and indirectly affects human health.
Beijing Yahe set to address these challenges
It is hoped that Yahe will contribute to safe food for the survival and development of human beings in the non-antibiotics and reduction of antibiotics. It will improve production efficiency from nutrient additives, reduce waste discharge, realise resource conservation, production safety and environmentally friendly solutions and continue to develop safe production alternatives. This includes the plant extract of antibiotics, which focuses on reducing carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus emissions and improving production efficiency.
The role that expert technical know-how, a strong global network and innovation plays in Beijing Yahe
First of all, in terms of ruminants, we use the theory of amino acid balance for cattle and sheep as the mainline to reduce the cost of milk/kg, reduce the feed cost of beef cattle and mutton sheep, improve feed conversion ratio and lead the Chinese ruminant nutrition to the level of developed countries such as Europe and America. At the same time, rumen glucose developed first by us in the world has a significant effect on the dairy cows in the perinatal period. We first put forward the theory of Glucose Metabolism Imbalance for dairy cows in the world and have corrected the lack and deficiency of the theory of negative energy balance in dairy cows. It has been recognised by many famous experts in the world.
In the application of advanced plant essential oil to replace antibiotics, our innovative process technology has improved the shortcomings of some foreign products and achieved good production results in domestic and international markets. Facing the general trend of economic globalisation, we are more dependent on the platform supported by EuroTier to go out of China, to embrace the international market and establish a global network with EuroTier as the line, sales agent and dealer as the point, and point-and-line combination, so as to contribute to human health and food safety.
What does the partnership between Beijing Yahe and EuroTier mean to you and to your company?
As a good platform for EuroTier, we carefully play our roles on this platform and quickly integrate into the international market. EuroTier means that our brand is getting more and more famous and our efficiency is much higher.
What is the one trend in the animal production industry that we can watch out for in the next 12 months?
· Pay attention to the trend of reshuffle and production varieties of the industry by ASF and adjust the company's strategic direction. Pay close attention to the impact of trade wars on domestic livestock product costs
· As for the foreign market, we will seize the trend to reduce and replace antibiotics, strive to emit the sound of Yahe on the international market, show our technological progress and promote global progress.
· In the field of ruminants, continue to help customers in China and out of China to apply rumen products and technologies to improve production efficiency and efficiency
What products do you have for animal farming and how do they help in the production boost?
We have essential oil to replace antibiotics, rumen-protected vitamins, rumen-protected lysine, rumen-protected methionine, rumen-protected glucose and rumen-protected choline chloride to improve the performance of ruminants.
In the recent challenges of using antibiotics as growth promoters in animal, which many studies have shown to have an adverse impact on human health, what solutions do you recommend/provide to ensure a proper quality check?
The technical solution to replace antibiotics should be gradually developed. In the government-scientific research, we will strengthen the guidance of public knowledge and the government will speed up publicity and popularise emission reduction and resistance knowledge. For the consumers, the terminal tracking of meat, eggs and milk is carried out and all aspects of production are grasped to realize traceability of the products.
In the recent outbreak of the African Swine Fever (ASF) in many Asian countries, particularly in China, how does Beijing Yahe support prevention of ASF and other livestock diseases in general?
As for ASF prevention, the government should do a good job in propaganda work, understand the characteristics of ASF and propose prevention plans for swine farms to reduce the fear of pork consumption in the shadow of ASF.
The application of mature essential oil compatibility schemes can improve animal immunity, prevent diarrhoea in young animals and promote and improve survival rate.
In the aspect of milk and milk goats, products such as rumen glucose are used to reduce postpartum metabolic diseases of dairy cows, promote health and improve the production efficiency of dairy cows and dairy goats.
In Asia and the Pacific, do you have any further plan for expansion? How do you see the role of the Asia-Pacific region in the context of the global animal farming industry?
Asia-Pacific is an emerging market in the world. It has a large population and is in the early stage of economic development. Therefore, it has a huge consumption potential and production potential. We strive to cooperate with exhibitors such as EuroTier to promote the brand of Yahe. We pay more attention to cooperation with local industry elites so that our products and technologies will enter into the Asia-Pacific region and the results will flourish.
