Royal DSM, global science-based nutrition, health and sustainable living company, has completed the acquisition of Erber Group for an enterprise value of US$1.1bn (€980mn)

The transaction, which excludes two smaller units in the Erber Group, is expected to be earnings enhancing in the first year upon completion.

DSM has acquired Biomin and Romer Labs from the Erber Group. The specialty animal nutrition and health business of Biomin specialises primarily in risk management of mycotoxins and gut health management. In contrast, the Romer Labs business focuses on diagnostic food and feed safety solutions. Both expand the range of higher value-added specialty solutions for DSM.

The acquisition of Biomin from Erber Group further strengthens DSM’s expertise and reputation as a leading provider of animal health and nutrition solutions for farm productivity and sustainability, with a focus on emission reduction, feed efficiency and better water and land use.

It is, therefore, very much in line with the aim of DSM to make animal farming more sustainable from both an ecological and an economic point of view. Romer Labs also complements DSM’s human nutrition and health offerings to customers in the food and beverage market segments.
