Nutreco has opened a new animal nutrition plant in East Java, making it the company’s second plant in Indonesia

The new premix plant in East Java is the company’s fifth in Asia, and has a capacity of 12,000 tonnes of premix and farm minerals. Under Nutreco’s animal nutrition business, Trouw Nutrition, the plant will employ 20 people and will allow the company to better serve Indonesian farmers and feed mill by providing faster response times and enhanced animal nutrition services.

Nutreco has also completed the upgrade of its animal nutrition plant in Hunan, China. The Hunan plant had originally been constructed in 1999, and was designed to primarily produce compound feed. It has now been upgraded to produce premix, farm minerals and young animal feed.

The expansion has been done keeping in mind the increasing demand for high quality and sustainable animal nutrition products in central and southern China. The plant now has a capacity of 75,000 tonnes and will employ about 200 people.

Nutreco spent about US$17.18mn on the two plants. Samson Li, Nutreco’s managing director for its Asia business unit, said, “These investments underscore our commitment to the Asian market and enable us to further grow our business by helping our customers to increase their efficiency and profitability with value-adding nutritional solutions.”

Earlier this year, Nutreco had opened a premix plant in Vietnam. The company also has a research partnership with the China’s Ministry of Agriculture Feed Industry Centre since 2011.
