New powerful 8R Series tractors from John Deere

Building on the foundation of the 8R Series Tractors introduced last year, John Deere has developed and integrated the "smart-tractor" concept into its latest row-crop tractors in the 235 to 360 engine horsepower range for 2011.

The new 8R / 8RT Series Tractors feature six models with wheels and three models with tracks, each offering 10 to 15 engine horsepower increases over the 2010 models. The tractors come with JDLink Ultimate Service and Service ADVISOR Remote, complimentary for one year, which allows the tractor to send location, operation and performance data via the Web and cell phone.
"The telematics and remote monitoring features make the new 8R Series Tractors the most intelligent and advanced tractors available and help producers gain even more efficiency and productivity while avoiding downtime and improving the management of the fleet," says Chad Hogan, John Deere division marketing manager. "If a service issue develops in the field, technicians at the dealership can remotely identify the problem, determine the tractor's location and proactively address the problem."
The new 8R Series Tractors offer the new ActiveCommand Steering (ACS) option, which utilizes breakthroughs in steering technology to deliver the ultimate in comfort and control, especially at transport speeds.
In the cab, a new GreenStar 3 CommandCenter display can be loaded with AutoTrac and Swath Control Pro applications to eliminate the need for additional displays, reducing cab clutter. The optional touchscreen version integrates video for better visibility of implements. “What makes the new 8R and 8RT Series the most intelligent tractors available is not just the technology itself, but how that technology is integrated into simple-to-use controls in the cab that allow all skill levels of operators to increase productivity,” Hogan said. All 8R and 8RT models are powered by new PowerTech PSX 9.0L engines that meet new Interim Tier 4 emissions regulations. These in-line, dual turbo-charged, six-cylinder engines utilize exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) technology and an exhaust filter that automatically cleans itself during normal machine operation-- without the need for diesel exhaust fluid. All engines feature full-authority electronic controls, high-pressure fuel systems and air-to-air after-cooling systems.
"The new 8R and 8RT Tractors are designed to provide higher levels of productivity through increased horsepower and torque, and deliver exceptional fuel efficiency while utilizing proven, simpler EGR engine technology to meet new Interim Tier 4 emissions standards," says Hogan. "We built on the performance and comfort features of past 8 Series Tractors to offer customers a row-crop tractor that's easier and more cost-effective to operate while providing the level of comfort and productivity they've come to expect from John Deere."
