No more misunderstandings: How Master Good is benefitting from Marel’s IMPAQT software

Nóra Moldvai-Villányi, Master Good production controller explains how the implementation of Marel’s intelligent IMPAQT software has benefitted them in their primary process

Master Good, a forward-thinking poultry enterprise in Hungary, has a primary processing line that runs at a speed of 250 bpm, making it impossible for the human eye to measure efficiency. Moldvai-Villányi explained that the judgments of their technical and production people were sometimes contradictory and subjective, which is why they had lacked a clear view of their equipment performance. However, since implementing the IMPAQT software, they had had no more miscommunication. This is because the software ensured to check every shackle individually, thus making their reports objective and reliable.

“IMPAQT gives us a realistic, real-time overview of the performance of the primary line. But it is more important that it can also help us focus on a certain issue, gather all the necessary data and find the root cause in real-time,” said Moldvai-Villányi. “Having several product detection points in the line, we can instantly see where most product losses occur. We can decide how to prevent this loss and verify the results of our preventive measures,” she added.

However, IMPAQT, she mentioned, was not a tool that could be used to solve sudden incidents. She pointed out that it was mainly being used as a monitoring tool for trends, which alerted them in case of a drop in performance in a particular area. This in turn enabled them to react faster and more efficiently. “At the moment, our technical department benefits most from IMPAQT. The Nuova, LineLink DE and EC dashboards are a continuous help for them. They constantly check the screens, spot the issues and react quickly if the performance of any unit drops,” explained Moldvai-Villányi.

She continued by stating that IMPAQT had already resulted in a better performance for Master Good. “Gizzards, hearts and livers are very important for us. We do our utmost to prevent the loss of these products. As this process starts with the Nuova eviscerator, it is crucial that we can closely watch its operation by checking the performance dashboard,” said Moldvai-Villányi. Hence, this screen not only showed performance, but also indicated which unit was not performing well.

Now, focusing on maintenance, Moldvai-Villányi pointed out that IMPAQT had certainly made their life easier. “Besides the dashboards, the Bad Shackle report is also a ‘must see’ report. Every shackle transfers many birds every day. One defective shackle will cause product loss each time the conveyor goes around,” she explained. “In the so-called Bad Shackle report, our maintenance department can easily identify bad shackles in the line and replace them as soon as possible.”
